The temperature of the second armour layer is an approximation respecting the additional thermal resistance of the separation material between the two armours. The rather small amount of heat losses generated by the first armour layer is neglected but in order to calculate the temperature of the cable outer sheath / jacket, the heat losses of both layers combined are used.
