Critical soil temperature

This is the critical temperature of the soil on the boundary between dry and moist zones. If $\theta_x$ < $\theta_o$ no drying-out will occur while the soil around the object will dry out if $\theta_o$ ≥ $\theta_x$.

When calculating drying-out according to IEC 60287, the critical soil temperature is an input value.

When using the VDE 0276-1000 method the critical soil temperature is calculated with the following formula.
