Training

We offer tailored training sessions for Cableizer applications upon request. These are customized to users' specific needs and applications, ranging from one to two days in duration. After the theoretical portion, participants work through various use cases hands-on using Cableizer.

One-day courses typically cover:

  • Brief introduction to high-voltage engineering fundamentals with focus on cable technology
  • Theory of heat transfer with conduction, convection and radiation
  • Structure of modern power cables and component functions
  • Typical medium and high voltage cable installations
  • Analytical cable ampacity calculations per IEC 60287
  • Finite Element Method (FEM) as alternative to IEC
  • Screen grounding methods and its advantages/disadvantages
  • Modeling standard objects
    • modern cables
    • heat sources
    • ducts/pipes
  • Modeling standard arrangements
    • buried with backfills
    • in air
  • Cableizer standard settings
    • report options
    • preferences
    • user profile
  • Report interpretation

Two-day courses deepen these topics and may add from:

  • Advanced cross-bonding screen variations
  • Stationary, cyclic, and transient load case distinctions
  • Modeling special objects
    • pressurized air-cables/gas-insulated lines (PAC/GIL, Hivoduct)
    • low-pressure oil-filled cables (LPOF)
    • high-pressure fluid-filled pipe-type cables (HPFF)
    • fiber optic cable (FOC)
    • district heat pipes
  • Modeling special arrangements
    • horizontal directional drilling (HDD)
    • multi-layer backfills
    • crossings
    • air-filled and backfilled troughs
    • ventilated and non-ventilated tunnels
    • partially buried submarine cables
    • risers and J-tubes
    • electric systems
  • Cableizer special settings
    • solver
    • plot preferences
    • CIGRE TB 880 guidance points
  • Creating/analyzing diagrams
    • approximative temperature distribution
    • magnetic fields 2D/1D
    • short-circuit currents
    • voltage drop, power transfer, induced voltage
